This custom web application displays how GlaxoSmithKline has recently gone completely green and displays live data directly from GlaxoSmithKline’s regional distribution center. GlaxoSmithKline has launched a massive initiative to be carbon neutral by 2050 in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint and be a leader in the green energy movement. GlaxoSmithKline has installed one of North America’s largest rooftop solar arrays at its regional distribution center in York, PA. They have installed nearly 11,000 solar panels that will generate approximately 3.4 million kwh of energy a year, enough to completely meet the buildings energy needs. This will make it the first GlaxoSmithKline facility in the world to be powered entirely by solar energy and will save 1,800 tons of CO2 a year. GlaxoSmithKline’s “climate change” international fund has helped avoid 148,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions since its inception. GlaxoSmithKline believes that they can reduce their annual costs by $100 million by 2020 through reduced energy, materials and distribution costs. Glide Interactive is proud to be a part of GlaxoSmithKline and American Capital Energy’s green energy movement.
